The Nine Progressive Stages of Mental Development
Healing the mind
Mind is the essence of everything. Due to mind's purity all becomes pure. Due to mind's clarity all becomes clear. Due to mind's well-being all becomes well. The essence of everything is only one's mind.

Meditation is a technique for calming and focusing the mind. It is not a form of brain-washing, blanking of the mind or spacing-out, but it is a series of teachings designed to train the mind to calm down, leading to a relaxed one-pointed focus and ultimately deep insight. In general the meditation techniques can be broken down into two: Shiney (Shamatha) - Calm Abiding, and Lhagtong (Vipassana) - Clear Insight. Shiney gives one the space to recognise the confused state of one's mind, put things in perspective and to relax and find peace. Lhagtong frees one from the power of ones conflicting emotions giveing direct experience of the nature of ones mind.
There are countless techniques and methods that have been passed down from master to student since the time of the Buddha, some are simple, others complicated but all of them are there to empower the individual to ultimately understand the nature of mind.
The centre has weekly meditation classes, prayer sessions (which in themselves are a form of meditation practice), and annual Mahamudra teachings.

Classes in meditation are given most weeks at the centre in Brynmawr and in Swansea. Everyone is welcome regardless of beliefs. There is no religion involved apart from the teacher making a very short prayer at the begining and end of the session (which are for them to have the right motivation at the begining, and to dedicate the merit to all beings at the end).
