To help one escape from the hurley-burley illusions of everyday life, and to find some space for some serious reality hunting, Palpung Changchub Dargyeling leads occasional retreats.
They are held at the centre and participants may stay and eat at the centre for the duration of the retreat or find accommodation in the town - (the centre is limited in the numbers it can host, so book in early for any retreats you wish to attend).
The retreat may take the form of guided meditations, a series of teachings upon a set subject, or an exploration of a practice, during which Lama Rabsang will provide all of the teaching, training, and permissions required to become adept.
The upcoming retreats are below and will be updated:-
Powa Retreat 7pm Saturday 3rd April
to 9am Sunday
11th April At the request of many
students Choje Lama Rabsang will lead a Powa Retreat
in April. Powa (also spelt Phowa) is one
of the Six Yogas of Naropa. The Indian Mahasiddha
Naropa received the teaching from his guru Tilopa
and passed it onto his main disciple Marpa, the
Tibetan master translator who travelled to India
many times to see his teacher and receive teachings.
He in turn gave it to his main disciple Milarepa and
so it was passed from master to disciple down to the
present day. Choje Lama Rabsang received the
teaching from the great master Saljay Rinpoche
during his retreat in Sherabling. Powa is a practice that trains
one how to transfer consciousness at the time
of death through the crown of ones head directly to
a pureland. Students may receive a clear physical
sign of success in the training. Suggested donation
£200 (for full board) (Personal offering to Lama
Rabsang optional).

Guru Rinpoche (Kunchog Chindu) Retreat
7pm Saturday 5th June to
9am Sunday 13th June
In June Lama Rabsang will lead a retreat of intensive Guru Rinpoche practice, when he will offer the empowerment, reading transmission & practice instructions; leading the group on a series of Guru Rinpoche prayer sessions throughout the retreat. It is a ideal time to form a connection with the Indian guru who bought Buddhism to Tibet and Bhutan in the 8th century.
He has many names in both Tibetan and Sanskrit, including the Lotus Born, (Pema Jungne/Padmasambhava) and Precious Master (Guru Rinpoche). The centre has copies of the texts you will need. Space is very limited and you may be asked to share a room if the demand is too great. (Alternative accommodation may also be found in town.)
Suggested donation £200 (for full board)
(Personal offering to Lama Rabsang optional).
7pm Saturday 30th Oct to
9am Sunday 7th Nov.
The Nature of Mind/Karma Pakshi retreat will be led for students of the Mahamudra Course and for those who have received Pointing-Out Instructions. More details will follow.
