One of the core teachings of Buddhism is that all phenomena are the result to the causes and conditions that arose from pre-conditioning factors.

 

Thus it is with the work that has been undertaken at the new centre. It can be frustrating when outwardly people do not see much progression but in order to make the centre fit for purpose there is much remedial work to be undertaken that on the surface is not visible.

 

We are working to get this centre functional this side of Christmas, but as you can understand we must make sure it is safe for everyone. Mingyur Rinpoche has sent us his best wishes and has confirmed that he will be with us next summer for an official opening ceremony, we hope all our friends old and new will join us for this very special event.

 

John and I have been up and down the motorway constantly, reviewing the ongoing work that has been happening at the centre. Before the cosmetic work that will beautify the centre there is a lot of work being undertaken to make the building safe. Over the next month the target is to have completed:

 

• the drainage, a full camera review and repairs as required
• repairs to the roof and guttering to stop water ingress
• work to commence on the rewiring of the electrics
• work to start on the renewal of the central heating system

 

That said work has started on rooms within the centre to make them fit for purpose. One of the bathrooms is close to completion as are two of the receptions rooms. Within the next month the drains will have been completed as will the roof. We are also working with electricians and gas fitters on the work that is required to bring all of the interior up to date and make it safe.

 

We understand that it can be frustrating for people wanting to see progress but setting foundations correctly at the start will mean that we have a centre in the future to be proud of.

 

Once the foundation work is complete we will be happy to invite small groups to volunteer on the cosmetics that will be required. We would be pleased to hear from individuals who have skills they would like to offer and we shall keep a database of those skills for future reference.
